CMS approved California in 2023, and Massachusetts, Montana, and Washington were approved earlier this year. CMS announced more approvals in July, including Illinois, Kentucky, Oregon, Utah, and Vermont.

The federal government has approved more funding to better address these disorders in carceral settings, leveraging medication assisted treatments and supportive services.
